Cleveland!

Not sure if this counts as a song, but I always dug it (and the sequel).

Paris Maquis

Watch out for the zoom in and out near the end of the video -- it gets slightly nausea-inducing. Great single, and this line-up didn't last that long, so it's cool to be able to find a video of them performing.

The Hockey Song

This song is obviously about the cherished Canadian pastime of curling. I meant hockey. Whaddaya want, I'm not Canadian, how I would I know the difference? I *have* heard that we have hockey here in America, though. ;) Originally by the Hanson Brothers, who recorded many songs about this beloved sport.

Miss Jackson

The whole record was based on the year 1814 for reasons unknown to anybody but Daniel.  Also, sorry to possibly cross Honey Bear's base path, posting is catch as catch can here in the Philippines so I gotta strike while the wifi is hot.

Week 39 Rules

Contributors:
Last week we posted about science. Well, class is still in session. So wake up Soup. And no, Mr Jae-Hak you cannot have the hall pass again. And Kyanimal, stop passing notes to Honey Bear. Jesus people, get your shit together.
Please post a song about a place, time, event, whatever in history. Does that make sense? Like something about the past.

Computer Love

It seems that Kraftwerk presaged the horrors of the Internet and online dating with this classic. This whole album is very prescient, as it talks about the downside of the great new technology of readily available computers and the digitization of communications: alienation as we all sit behind screens, the changes to human contact, all of our information being stores in a database somewhere... Great album. Hearing this song makes me hate Coldplay even more, though. Way to rip off Kraftwerk's melody, losers.

Buided vy Goices

I suppose this is a fairly obvious choice for me. Funny, while reading Thea's rule I was thinking, "Oh, she's probably going to say something like 'Nobody can use 'I Am A Scientist' by Guided By Voices because it's so played out or something.' Or something like that."

Week 38 Rules

Via Honey Bear:
"I have no access to a computer while in Oakland this weekend. The rules for this week are to choose a song that talks about some sort of science or a scientist. I am going to exclude the song "She Blinded Me With Science" because that is bogus. It's not actually about science. The end. "
Word.
